Technical Assistance
Your Soil & Water Conservation District is here to provide you with technical assistance at no cost to you. Our primary role is to provide you with assistance as you apply for various USDA programs, including CRP, EQIP, or WHIP. We can also help you with your general conservation planning. We can provide financial assistance as funds are made available to help you obtain fence materials, and we have a limited source of funds available for small grants to help with irrigation efficiency projects.
We can help you understand how to read a soils map. We can help you figure out who to call when you have skunks living under your house. We can help you identify various weeds on your property. We can help you connect with other farmers or ranchers who may already have dealt with problems similar to yours. In short, we are here to help.
Because many of the programs we assist with are actually administered by other federal agencies, we will leave it to those agencies to provide more detail about their various programs. We hope to have some brief programmatic descriptions soon to post on this site. Until then, take a look at some of the links provided on our Helpful Links page. The USDA website is a great source of information related to a lot more than just a few programs. In fact, that website should be bookmarked on the computer of every farmer, rancher, or landowner in Klamath County!
If you have questions about any of the federal programs, or just want to know more about local agriculture, give us a call at the telephone number listed above, or simply send us an email. Be sure to put an appropriate title in your subject line, so we know where to route your question.
