Fun Facts - (Not Just For Kids!)
HEY... did you know that in 2005 the average American consumed 51.5 gallons of carbonated soft drinks? That same year we consumed an average of 25 gallons of alcohol (beer, wine and distilled spirits), 24.2 gallons of coffee, and 21 gallons of milk. We also consumed an even 23 pounds of candy and confections! If factoids like these fascinate you, check out USDA's Economic Research Service website at http://www.ers.usda.gov/Data/FoodConsumption/FoodAvailSpreadsheets.htm#c for these and other similar statistics. Who says statistics can't be fun?
Acronyms have become a necessary evil in today's world. Imagine how inconvenient it would be to physically spell out this sentence: "KSWCD, NRCS and FSA cooperatively provide a public service for various USDA programs such as EQIP, CRP, WHIP, GRP, WRP, etc." It's bad enough even with the acronyms! Unfortunately, sometimes those of us who use these acronyms on a daily basis forget that not everybody knows what they all mean. Check out this list of Acronyms and their meanings if you really want to know what some of those letters stand for!
